Dr. Jeff Sodl

Orthopedic Surgery

Dr. Jeff Sodl is a Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon with fellowship training in Sports Medicine
and Shoulder Reconstruction. He was born outside Philadelphia and attended the University of
Notre Dame where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with both Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha
Epsilon Delta Honors. He earned his medical degree at The Lewis Katz School of Medicine at
Temple University. He then completed both internship and residency at The Hospital of the
University of Pennsylvania. After residency, Dr. Sodl trained under past American Shoulder &
Elbow Society President Dr. James Tibone and renowned Shoulder and Elbow specialist Dr.
John Itamura at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine. As a fellow, Dr.
Sodl assisted the USC Athletic Department, treating athletes from USC football, soccer,
baseball, volleyball, basketball, and water polo. He was also the team physician for East Los
Angeles Junior College football. Dr. Sodl has published multiple peer-reviewed papers and
contributed to text books on the shoulder. He worked for Kaiser Permanente in Orange County
for nearly 15 years and was a faculty member for the Kaiser Permanente Sports Medicine
Fellowship program as well as volunteer faculty at UC-Irvine. His practice includes traumatic,
arthroscopic, and reconstructive procedures of the shoulder, including primary and revision joint
replacement. Dr. Sodl is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and a
member of the American Shoulder & Elbow Society.
